Dollar Reaches Record High in Cuba's Informal Market
The US dollar has reached its highest value in 30 days in Cuba's informal market, trading at 700 Cuban pesos (CUP) on Thursday, September 17, 2026. This represents a significant milestone for the currency, which has been steadily increasing in value over the past week.
According to CiberCuba's exchange rate index, the dollar has gained 12 pesos since last week, representing an increase of 1.8%. Over the past month, the US dollar has risen from 663 CUP to its current value of 700 CUP.
The euro has also seen a significant increase in value, trading at 796 CUP on Thursday. This is an increase of one peso compared to the previous day and represents a rise of 15 pesos over the past week. The MLC, however, has declined in value, trading at 448 CUP with a purchase rate of 443 CUP and a selling rate of 463 CUP.
