The US dollar continues to rise in Cuba's unofficial market, reaching its highest level in 30 days. On Friday, the dollar was valued at 730 Cuban pesos (CUP), a gain of five pesos from the previous day and 27 pesos from last week.
This upward trend has been ongoing for weeks, with the dollar gaining 62 pesos compared to a month ago when it was trading around 668 CUP. The euro also saw gains, reaching 832 CUP, while the MLC rose to 498 CUP.
The official market, however, shows a significant gap between the unofficial rates and those set by the Central Bank of Cuba's Segment III. On Friday, the official rate for the dollar was 678 CUP and for the euro was 771 CUP, a difference of 52 pesos per dollar and 61 pesos per euro.
