Dollar Rebounds Amid Global Currency Tensions
The US dollar made a comeback on Thursday as it recouped some losses against major currencies. The gains were driven by rising oil prices and bond yields, which boosted investor confidence.
The euro slipped to $1.1612 against the dollar following the European Central Bank's (ECB) interest rate hike. This was the second rate hike this year, aimed at curbing inflation amid geopolitical tensions.
Eugene Epstein of Moneycorp said that US producer prices supported the dollar's gains and reinforced expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike.
The spike in oil prices after geopolitical tensions in Yemen and threats to Red Sea shipping also contributed to the dollar's gain. Analysts at Bank of America forecasted a potential relief rally pending CPI outcomes, aligning with stronger oil prices and a strategic US Treasury response.
