Dollar rises against dong amid global currency shifts
The U.S. dollar gained strength against the Vietnamese dong on the black market Tuesday morning, climbing 0.27% to VND26,030. Meanwhile, Vietcombank maintained its official exchange rate at VND26,190.
Globally, the euro remained near a 17-month low, struggling due to political uncertainty and fiscal concerns across the eurozone. The dollar extended its rally, supported by rising U.S. Treasury yields. The euro dipped slightly to $1.1220, extending a 1.2% decline from the previous week.
Against the Japanese yen, the dollar rose to 157.92, while the British pound slipped 0.02% to $1.3222. The dollar index firmed at 102.16, after reaching an 18-month high in the previous session.
