Dollar Roars Ahead Against Euro Amid Strong US Growth
The US dollar has been gaining strength against the euro in September, reaching its highest level of the year. The dollar's gain against the euro this month is nearly 2.3%, making it on track for its biggest monthly advance in 14 months.
This surge is largely due to stronger US growth and rising interest-rate expectations. The Federal Reserve raised interest rates earlier this month, prompting traders to price in a more aggressive path for US monetary policy relative to the euro zone.
However, some analysts believe that the dollar's strength may be 'fragile' and 'over-stretched'. Thu Lan Nguyen, an FX analyst at Commerzbank, expressed caution, saying 'I would still regard the current dollar strength as rather fragile...'
