Dollar Seeks Fourth Straight Weekly Gain Against Euro
The US dollar is poised to secure its fourth consecutive weekly gain against the euro on Friday, bolstered by elevated US Treasury yields and expectations of a continued hawkish stance from the Federal Reserve.
The greenback's upward trajectory has been sustained despite data showing a decline in US job growth in September and an increase in the unemployment rate to 4.2%, which led to some trimming of its recent gains.
US Treasury yields, however, remain near multi-decade highs, and concerns over the fiscal outlook in parts of Europe are contributing to the dollar's strength.
Nomura's head of G10 FX strategy, Dominic Bunning, described the jobs data as a 'Goldilocks set of numbers,' suggesting that while economic activity remains resilient, it does not pose significant inflationary pressure.
