Dollar Soars on Rate Hike Expectations Amid Easing Oil Prices
The US dollar surged to its strongest level in two months on Wednesday as expectations of further interest rate hikes supported the currency.
The dollar index, which measures the US currency against six major rivals, rose 0.16% to 100.71.
Brent crude futures slipped to $98.46 a barrel for the sixth consecutive session amid reports concerning a possible reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and hopes that diplomatic efforts could help resolve the seven-month Middle East conflict.
