Dollar Soars Past 240,000 Tomans in Tehran Market
The US dollar has reached an all-time high in Tehran's market, surpassing 240,000 tomans. According to data from gold and currency tracking platforms, the dollar traded at 240,500 tomans on Monday, September 28, 2026. This represents a significant increase from last Tuesday's price of approximately 233,000 tomans, marking an over 7,000-toman rise in less than a week.
The British pound and euro also saw increases, trading at 318,500 tomans and 274,000 tomans, respectively. The gold market was similarly affected, with the Emami full gold coin reaching 242 million tomans, while the half-coin was priced at 123 million tomans. The quarter-coin rose to 65.5 million tomans.
These price fluctuations indicate a volatile economic environment in Iran, where currency values are subject to significant changes over short periods.
