Dollar Soars to 17-Month High Amid Euro and Yen Pressure
The US dollar has reached its highest level in 17 months, climbing to 102.08 on the Dollar Index. This marks the third consecutive weekly increase for the dollar, with a gain of around 1% expected for the week.
The euro and Japanese yen have come under pressure due to rising bond yields and concerns over financial conditions in Europe. The euro weakened to $1.1237, approaching its lowest level since May 2025, while the Australian dollar fell 0.18% to $0.6918.
The yen has fallen 1.50% over the past month and 7.27% over the past year. The spread between French and German government bond yields has widened to its highest level since 2012, weighing on investor sentiment toward the single currency.
