Dollar Soars to 30-Day High as Euro Hits New Peak in Cuban Informal Market
The Cuban informal market saw another day of significant price increases for the US dollar and euro on September 29. The dollar started at 748 Cuban pesos, a five-peg increase from the previous day's close, while the euro climbed to 852 pesos with a similar gain of five pesos compared to the previous session.
The Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) experienced a decline in value during this period, but data is scarce and should be considered indicative. The dollar reached its highest price point in 30 days, while the euro also set a new monthly peak.
The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba remains significantly lower than the informal market rates. The gap between the two continues to widen, with the difference reaching 67 pesos for the dollar and 77 pesos for the euro on this day.
