Dollar Softens Against Dong Amid Global Rate Hikes
The US dollar weakened slightly against the Vietnamese dong on Friday, according to exchange rates. Vietcombank sold the greenback at VND26,200, a 0.02% decrease from Thursday's rate.
Despite this decline, the currency remained firm against major peers globally. The State Bank of Vietnam raised its reference rate by 0.02% to a new high of VND25,637.
In contrast to the dong, the yen softened after the Bank of Japan delivered a widely expected interest rate hike. The U.S. dollar index also decreased slightly to 100.1900, down 0.1% from the previous day.
