Dollar Strength Soars as Hawkish Fed Signals Rate Hike Bets
The US Dollar Index (DXY) remains strong due to hawkish comments from Federal Reserve officials, signaling potential rate hikes. Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack cautioned against allowing elevated prices to become normalized, while Philadelphia Fed President Anna Paulson suggested further rate increases might be warranted.
As a result, the CME FedWatch Tool indicates a greater than 70% probability of a rate hike at the October Federal Reserve meeting, up from 57.6% last week and 17.7% a month ago.
