Dollar Strengthens Against Yen Amid BOJ Rate Hike Uncertainty
The US dollar surged against the yen on Friday after two Bank of Japan policymakers dissented from a widely expected decision to raise interest rates, casting doubt on further hikes.
This move led to a 0.5% increase in the dollar's value against the yen, with it reaching as high as 1.3% to a two-week high of 158.05 yen.
The BOJ had raised interest rates to their highest level in 31 years at 1.25%, but this decision did not boost the Japanese currency as traders felt there was a lack of explicitly hawkish guidance.
