Dollar Strengthens Amid Geopolitical Tensions and Elevated Treasury Yields
The US dollar has maintained its dominance over major currencies, reaching two-month highs as investors continue to seek safe-haven assets amidst geopolitical tensions and elevated Treasury yields.
The dollar index rose 0.2% to 101.62, capping a strong September performance that delivered the largest monthly advance since June.
Despite softer-than-expected US inflation figures, which trimmed bets for an October Federal Reserve interest rate increase, persistent energy cost inflation and heavy sovereign debt issuance have kept global borrowing costs elevated.
