Dollar Strengthens on Rate Hike Bets as Swiss Franc Falls

The US Dollar has strengthened as investors bet on a higher likelihood of a rate hike by the Federal Reserve. According to the CME FedWatch Tool, there's now a greater than 72% probability of a 25-basis-point increase next week, up from 61% prior to the recent Producer Price Index (PPI) data release.

Investors are closely watching the upcoming United States consumer price index report, which could solidify these monetary tightening expectations. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that headline PPI rose 5.4% year-over-year in August, outpacing analyst forecasts.

The Swiss Franc is under downward pressure due to a widening interest rate differential between Switzerland and the United States. While other central banks are navigating various tightening cycles, the Swiss National Bank (SNB) is widely expected to leave its key policy rate at 0% through the end of the year.
