Dollar Suffers Losses Against Major Currencies

The US dollar has experienced a softer day against major G10 currencies, but its weekly performance is mixed. The yen and Swiss franc have lost significant ground, with the yen down by almost 0.9% and the Swiss franc declining by nearly 0.7%. In contrast, the Norwegian krone has gained almost 0.5%, while the Canadian dollar has risen by about 0.35%. Equity markets in Japan, China, and South Korea have seen gains, with most other major bourses in the region also rising. The Stoxx 600 is edging higher for the first time in three sessions and remains nearly flat on the week.

US index futures are trading narrowly mixed. Tomorrow marks the 55th anniversary of the end of Bretton Woods, a significant economic agreement that established the World Bank and International Monetary Fund among other milestones. The dollar's performance is closely watched as it has traditionally been tied to gold under this system, which has largely been abandoned.
