Dollar Surge Continues Amidst Central Bank Indecision

The US dollar has continued its upward trend as investors seek safe-haven assets amidst rising geopolitical risks and inflation concerns. This shift in sentiment is largely driven by the Federal Reserve's (Fed) hawkish stance on monetary policy, which has set a higher bar for rival central banks to match.

The Bank of England (BoE) recently refrained from tightening policy, while the Bank of Japan (BoJ) raised interest rates, but not unanimously. This indecision has weighed heavily on their respective currencies, with the pound sterling reaching its lowest level since July and the yen struggling to gain traction.

The return of demand for US assets, coupled with the cautious approach of rival central banks, suggests that the dollar will continue to rise. The FxPro Analyst Team notes that USD/JPY is close to a 'notional red line', beyond which intervention may follow, and that recent initiatives by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent have merely bought time.
