Dollar Surges as Crude Prices Soar and Interest Rates Rise
The US dollar index DXY rose by +0.14% on Tuesday, reaching its highest level in two weeks. The increase was driven by a surge in crude oil prices and higher T-note yields.
The WTI crude oil price jumped by +4% to a three-month high, raising inflation expectations and potentially prompting the Fed to tighten monetary policy, which would support the dollar.
The 10-year T-note yield reached its highest level in 19 years at 5.04%, strengthening the dollar's interest rate differentials and supporting its value.
