President Trump has threatened to sever trade relations with dozens of countries if the Federal Reserve doesn't lower interest rates after a surprisingly strong August jobs report.

The report showed that employers added 162,000 jobs in August, exceeding expectations. Trump seized on this news, tweeting that the US should have the lowest interest rate in the world, like it did 'in the old days.'

In his posts on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that a strong country means a lower interest rate and that the US is now a better credit than before. He also warned the Fed that trade actions are a new point of leverage, given that Kevin Warsh, his appointee, now leads the board.
