The US dollar rallied on Friday after Federal Reserve chief Kevin Warsh emphasized the importance of fighting high inflation in a speech at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Warsh stated that 'we must be confident that underlying inflation is moving to our objective, clearly and at sufficient speed. Otherwise, we have work to do.'

Short-term US Treasury bonds saw yields spike following the speech, reflecting increased expectations for higher Fed rates. Futures markets also raised the odds of a rate hike in September, with investors anticipating a potential increase in interest rates to combat rising inflation.

The dollar jumped against major currencies such as the euro and yen, while oil prices dipped slightly as traders weighed mixed signals over the prospects for a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
