Dollar Surges on Hawkish Fed Hike, but Near-Term Gains May be Limited
The US dollar surged on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve's decision to hike interest rates and signal further tightening in the coming months.
The Fed's unanimous decision was seen as hawkish, with the US Dollar Index (DXY) rising 0.7% to a six-week high and pushing into the 100 range.
The rally weighed on EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and AUD/USD, which fell by 0.8%, while USD/CHF rose 0.8% to its highest level since May 2025.
Despite the near-term strength of the dollar, analysts believe that the broader rebound may be corrective, with some predicting a pullback after an extended run.
