The US dollar has risen against the Japanese yen amid market uncertainty surrounding a proposed deal to end the Iran conflict and ahead of the release of the US jobs report.

The dollar strengthened by 0.41% against the yen on Thursday, reaching 158.41, after weakening to its lowest level in early May.

Experts say that investors are seeking safe-haven positions due to ongoing tensions in the Gulf, where a proposed deal between Iran and Oman could give Tehran control over inbound traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The euro and sterling also fell against the dollar, with the euro down 0.29% at $1.1519 and sterling falling 0.12% at $1.3454.
