Dollar Surges Past Six-Day High Against Loonie
The US dollar has gained strength against its Canadian counterpart, rising by 0.24% to hit 1.4176 Canadian dollars per dollar. This marks six consecutive sessions of growth for the dollar, with a notable increase of 1.36% over the past week.
This is the largest six-day percentage gain since September 16, 2026, and extends the longest winning streak since September 17, 2026, when the market saw seven straight sessions of growth. The dollar has also risen 13 out of the past 14 sessions.
The current rate of 1.4176 Canadian dollars per dollar is the highest five pm New York rate since July 7, 2026, and is up 5.08% from its 52-week low of 1.3491 hit on January 29, 2026. The dollar has also risen 1.86% against the Canadian dollar over the past year.
