The US dollar has weakened significantly against the Japanese yen following market interventions by both countries. According to President Donald Trump, the US helped Japan due to its weak currency and a desire for assistance.

The intervention was confirmed by Tokyo's Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama, who stated that the finance ministry purchased yen in coordination with the U.S. Treasury Department. The move aimed to counter excessive volatility in the Japanese yen.

Before the intervention, the dollar had reached 40-year highs against the yen, trading above 163 yen. After regulators stepped in, it fell below 160 yen. Following the official announcement of the intervention, the dollar dropped about 1% to 156.34 yen.
