Dollar-Yen Dives on Falling US Yields
The dollar-yen pair struggled to gain traction in the lower 158 range on Friday, August 25th. After peaking at 158.09 yen, it briefly dipped to a fresh low of 157.95 yen due to falling U.S. yields.
The decline in U.S. long-term yields paused by mid-afternoon, and selling pressure on the dollar-yen pair eased. However, the recovery was sluggish, and the pair shifted into consolidation near its day's lows.
In contrast, EUR/USD showed resilient price action, climbing to a new high of 1.1391 dollars as the dollar sold off due to falling U.S. yields. This move brought the pair close to its previous day's high of 1.1399 dollars.
