Dollar-Yen Pair Rebounds After Early Weakness in Tokyo Trading
The dollar-yen pair saw a reversal in Tokyo foreign exchange trading on August 27th after dipping to 159.11 yen earlier in the day.
This weakness was driven by stubbornly elevated U.S. inflation indicators from the previous day, but Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Ryozo Himino's remarks at a financial and economic forum failed to provide any new substance.
Himino emphasized that the BOJ's policy is not monetary tightening, but rather an adjustment in the degree of monetary easing, citing upside risks to prices as a concern.
The dollar-yen pair extended gains to 159.39 yen, with the trading range spanning 159.11 to 159.39 yen.
