Dollar-Yen Volatility Ahead of Nonfarm Payroll Announcement
The US dollar has experienced some fluctuations in its value against the Japanese yen on Thursday. Despite slicing through both the 200-day EMA and 50-day EMA indicators, the gains have been given back.
This is not entirely unexpected, as Friday's nonfarm payroll announcement will likely play a significant role in shaping market sentiment. The bond markets and interest-rate moves resulting from this event often impact the USD/JPY pair.
According to Christopher Lewis, a technical analyst at DailyForex with over two decades of trading experience, the interest rate differential remains a key factor. He prefers going long on the pair and believes that breaking above the ¥159 level would be a bullish sign.
If, however, the price were to break down below ¥156.50, it would indicate bearish sentiment. Lewis acknowledges that market uncertainty is high at this point due to the impending nonfarm payroll announcement, but advises traders to position-size accordingly and focus on their market.
