Dow Plunges Amid Rising Interest Rates and Inflation Fears
The US stock market experienced a decline on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 352.10 points, or 0.68%, to 51,511.59.
This drop comes as Treasury yields climbed to multi-year highs, adding to concerns that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates again at its October meeting.
The S&P 500 dropped 0.75% to 7,706.05, while the Nasdaq Composite declined 1.13% to 26,936.04.
Treasury yields rose after September purchasing managers' index data showed that US business activity reached its highest level in more than five years.
Federal Reserve Governor Michael Barr said further policy adjustments would likely be required as inflation remains above the central bank's 2% target.
