Dsouza Falls Short as India's Teqball Campaign Concludes Without Medal

India's teqball campaign at the 2026 Asian Games concluded without a medal on September 20, after Quimcy Dsouza fell short in two bronze-medal contests. The pressure of competing on an unfamiliar continental stage impacted her performance.

Dsouza first suffered a narrow 2-0 defeat to Japan's Yuina Sakamoto in the women's singles bronze-medal match, with scores of 12-11 and 12-11. In the mixed doubles bronze-medal playoff, she partnered with Mohamed Anas Imran Beg but lost 0-2 to Vietnam's Hoang Minh Tan Nguyen and Gia Nghi Trinh, with scores of 12-9 and 12-6.

Dsouza admitted that the sudden attention on teqball was overwhelming: 'To experience such pressure for the first time was where I fell back a little bit.'

She expressed pride at representing India, saying, 'A lot of athletes in India dream about wearing India on their chest. The kid in me would be super proud today.' Dsouza hopes to continue giving her best to represent the country.
