Dutch Central Bank Shifts Gold Reserves to London
The Dutch Central Bank (DNB) has shifted a significant portion of its gold reserves to London. Between March and August, the bank transferred 86 tons of gold from New York and Ottawa to London.
The move was made to take advantage of London's status as the center of physical gold trading. The DNB cited the stability of the Bank of England, stating that gold held at the Bank of England is considered the most easily tradable in the world and can be deployed immediately in a crisis.
DNB President Olaf Sleijpen expressed hope that the reserves would never be needed. Instead, he stated that the move was intended to strengthen the bank's resilience and crisis preparedness.
