European Central Bank (ECB) officials are preparing for a vigorous discussion during their upcoming interest rate meeting in late October. Ante Zigman, a member of the ECB’s Governing Council, highlighted the intensity expected during the deliberations. Speaking in Porec on Thursday, Zigman noted that the ECB had recently raised interest rates and hinted at a lively debate over future policy actions.
The Croatian central bank chief emphasized that the next meeting would involve a 'very intense debate' on how to proceed with monetary policy. This follows the recent rate hike, which has set the stage for further discussions on the ECB's strategy. Zigman’s comments suggest that the ECB is grappling with significant decisions amid evolving economic conditions.
