ECB Hosts Free Open-Air Concert in Frankfurt Featuring Kurt Elling
The European Central Bank and broadcaster Hessischer Rundfunk are hosting the Europa Open Air concert in Frankfurt, Germany. The event will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Weseler Werft. Admission is free.
The concert features a lineup of local and international performers, including the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Kurt Elling, and accordion virtuoso Richard Galliano. ECB President Christine Lagarde commented that the event celebrates the richness of Europe's cultural life and the connections that unite people.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to engage with the ECB and share their views on the design of future euro banknotes. The ECB is currently considering ten shortlisted design proposals, which are based on two possible themes: European culture and Rivers and birds. Attendees can explore the proposals, discuss them with ECB experts, and share their opinions directly at the event.
