ECB Links Blockchain with Payment Infrastructure via New Pontes Platform
The European Central Bank has introduced a new platform called Pontes, which enables euro settlements for tokenized securities and links blockchain technology with its payment infrastructure.
This move aims to enhance settlement credibility for digital euro-denominated assets and improve liquidity and trust among institutional participants.
The ECB has also allocated part of its assets to euro-denominated blockchain-based securities issued by public institutions, supporting the integration of traditional and digital finance in Europe.
