The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched a public survey to gather opinions on the design of new euro banknotes. As of September 14, about 9 million people across the eurozone had participated in the survey, with an additional 148,000 Greeks contributing their preferences.

The ECB presented 10 potential designs for the next series of euro banknotes in July, based on two themes: 'European Culture' and 'Rivers and Birds'. The proposals feature iconic figures such as Maria Callas, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Miguel de Cervantes, as well as symbols of freedom, unity, and humanity's connection with nature.

The ECB has said that one of the 10 proposals will eventually become the design for the next generation of euro banknotes. The final decision will take into account several factors, including the conclusions of the design competition's jury, a technical assessment, and the results of two surveys.
