ECB Sees Record-Breaking Responses to Euro Banknote Design Survey
The European Central Bank (ECB) has released preliminary results from its public survey on the future design of euro banknotes. The ECB received a staggering 9.96 million responses, surpassing initial expectations and demonstrating a high level of interest among Europeans in their currency's design.
According to Christine Lagarde, President of the ECB, the large number of responses is an important step in preparing the next series of euro banknotes. The survey focused on ten shortlisted design proposals centered around European culture and natural features, including rivers and birds.
The respondents were diverse, with two-thirds coming from people under the age of 35. This indicates a strong interest among younger generations in shaping the future of the euro currency.
