ECB Unveils Euro Banknote Designs, Citizens to Choose Final Look
The European Central Bank has unveiled ten final design proposals for future euro banknotes. The designs are dominated by themes of culture and nature, featuring renowned scientists and artists, as well as birds symbolizing Europe's biodiversity.
More than 1,200 proposals were considered, but two main themes emerged: European culture and the richness of nature. For example, one design would feature Leonardo da Vinci on the front side, while the back side would show a river landscape with various bird species.
The European Central Bank will now let citizens choose the winning design through an online voting process. The new banknotes are scheduled to enter circulation by the end of 2026.
