The European Central Bank (ECB) is set to launch 'Pontes', a new digital euro designed specifically for banks, announced ECB President Christine Lagarde.
Pontes will utilize tokenized assets and distributed ledger technology to enable banks to transact with each other using the digital euro.
Lagarde expressed her hopes that Pontes would be completed and finalized by the end of this year.
