ECB's Inflation Fears Grow as Time Works Against Central Bankers
ECB Governing Council member Christodoulos Patsalides emphasized that the passage of time is working against the European Central Bank (ECB) in its efforts to combat inflation. Speaking with Econostream, Patsalides noted that elevated oil prices persist, increasing the importance of pre-emptive action.
Patsalides, who heads the Central Bank of Cyprus, stated that there was no evidence to support raising interest rates at last week's meeting. As a result, the Governing Council left interest rates unchanged, as they deemed it prudent.
