European Central Bank Governing Council member Olli Rehn highlighted that the spread between French bond yields and German bunds has widened "somewhat." This shift reflects both global economic pressures and country-specific factors, according to Rehn.
Rehn made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing Finland’s parliament. He noted that several other nations have also faced similar market pressures, indicating a broader trend.
The extra yield, or spread, that investors demand to hold French 10-year bonds over safer German debt has risen to 153 basis points. This marks the widest gap since October 2, 2026.
