Economic Calendar: Key Events Ahead
The upcoming week is expected to be crucial for various economies, including New Zealand's. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) will release its Monetary Policy Statement on Wednesday, which is likely to include a +25 bps interest rate hike to combat inflation, currently running at 4.1%. This move would bring the OCR to 2.75% and would be in line with market expectations.
In Australia, the Q2-2026 GDP expansion rate is expected to be up +1.6% from a year ago, which is lower than the previous quarter's growth of +2.5%. The country will also release residential real estate updates and building consent data.
The US economy is facing challenges with high inflation and a weakening economy. Fed boss Kevin Warsh flagged that inflation in the American economy is too high, but offered no indication on whether he favors keeping interest rates at current levels or pushing them higher.
