Egyptian Pound Depreciates Against Major Currencies Amid Market Uncertainty
The Egyptian pound has depreciated against major foreign currencies by the end of trading on September 16, 2026. The US dollar remained above EGP 52 per dollar, with a buying price of EGP 52.1447 and a selling price of EGP 52.2837.
The euro climbed above EGP 60, reaching a buying price of EGP 60.1541 and a selling price of EGP 60.3197. The British pound approached EGP 70.44, with a buying price of EGP 70.2337 and a selling price of EGP 70.4366.
The Central Bank of Egypt's closing rates also showed the Kuwaiti dinar priced at EGP 169.8248 for buying and EGP 170.3330 for selling, while the Saudi riyal reached EGP 13.8823 for buying and EGP 13.9201 for selling.
The market is closely monitoring developments in US monetary policy, with investors waiting for the Federal Reserve's upcoming interest-rate decision. The 10-year Treasury yield was cited at around 5% in the market backdrop.
