Electricity Costs Skyrocket as Inflation Remains Stubbornly High
The latest inflation figures have shown that prices for most everyday items are on the rise. The Reserve Bank of Australia and the federal government would like to see inflation at a lower rate, but it remains stubbornly high at 3.8 per cent.
One of the main contributors to this increase is electricity costs, which have seen a big jump due to the removal of government subsidies that had helped people cover soaring power costs caused by the war in Ukraine.
On the other hand, automotive fuel prices have decreased, thanks to the federal government's decision to cut the fuel excise. However, this discount is set to expire on August 2, leaving many to wonder what will happen next.
