EU Central Bank Backs Common Corporate Law Framework
The European Central Bank has expressed its support for 'EU Inc,' a proposed bloc-wide common corporate law framework. This initiative aims to improve productivity in Europe by removing barriers to cross-border business activity.
The ECB presented estimates showing that if the proportion of large companies in the EU reached the same level as in the United States, approximately one-third of the productivity gap between the two regions could be eliminated.
Labor productivity per worker has lagged behind the U.S. by about 20% since 1995, when it was roughly on par with the U.S.
The EU Inc framework is modeled on Delaware corporate law in the United States and aims to create a single legal structure that functions across the entire bloc without requiring companies to navigate 27 different national corporate laws.
