EUR/GPB Retreats Ahead of Bank of England Rate Decision

The euro's strength against the pound has eased as markets await the Bank of England's decision on monetary policy. The EUR/GBP pair retreated slightly after touching levels not seen since early March, reflecting a wait-and-see attitude among traders.

Expectations of a hold or modest rate adjustment from the BoE have created a floor for sterling, limiting further gains for the euro. The euro's earlier strength was driven by a weaker dollar and improving sentiment in European equities, but those tailwinds have faded as focus shifts to UK monetary policy.

From a technical perspective, the EUR/GBP pair had rallied to its highest point in four weeks, testing resistance near 0.8600. The pullback from those levels suggests that sellers are defending that zone. Support is now seen around 0.8550, with a break below opening the door to the 0.8500 area.
