EUR/USD Pair Faces Short-Term Pressure Amid Easing Middle East Tensions
The EUR/USD pair has been experiencing short-term pressure due to rising expectations of easing tensions in the Middle East.
This shift in market sentiment is attributed to the strengthening dollar, driven by revised interest-rate expectations and a widening U.S., Eurozone yield spread in favor of the dollar.
Commerzbank analyst Thu Lan Nguyen notes that the eurozone's inflation levels are highly sensitive to energy prices, which has led to a faster decline in inflation when energy prices fall.
If U.S.-Iran relations continue to improve and trigger a significant pullback in energy prices, the euro could face further downward pressure against the dollar in the short term, although its longer-term trend remains uncertain.
