Euribor Soars to Two-Year Highs After ECB Rate Hike
The European Central Bank (ECB) raised its three key interest rates by 25 basis points on September 10, 2026. As a result, Euribor climbed to two-year highs after the ECB's rate hike.
Six and 12-month Euribor rose to 2.946 per cent and 3.326 per cent on Tuesday, their highest since late 2024. The six-month rate, which is used as a reference in Portuguese variable-rate home loans, added 0.010 percentage points on the day.
The move is consistent with independent rate data from global-rates.com, which lists the six-month Euribor at 2.936 per cent for Monday, September 14.
Monthly averages rose in August at all three tenors, with the largest increase at the longest maturity. This signals that markets expect policy tightness to persist rather than fade.
