Euro Area Money Supply Rises 0.1% Amid Strong Credit Growth
The European Central Bank (ECB) released its August 2026 monetary data, showing a moderate acceleration in broad money growth across the euro area.
M3 increased to 3.5% year-on-year, while M1 growth slowed to 2.9%. Credit conditions remained relatively strong, with adjusted loans to households growing by 3.1% and loans to non-financial corporations by 4.2%.
The annual growth rate of narrower monetary aggregate M1 decreased to 2.9% in August from 3.1% in July. The annual growth rate of adjusted loans to non-financial corporations decreased to 4.2% in August from 4.4% in July.
