The European Central Bank (ECB) has reported that the euro area's net saving remained stable at €902 billion (~$1,025 billion) in the first quarter of 2026. This is compared to the previous four-quarter period where it was also around €900 billion.

Meanwhile, net lending to the rest of the world increased to €307 billion from €296 billion, driven by lower net non-financial investment by corporations and financial firms.

Households strengthened their financial position during the quarter, with net lending increasing to €688 billion from €591 billion. This represents a growth rate of 5.3% of net disposable income.
