Euro Area PMI Data in Focus: Growth and Inflation Pressures Ahead of ECB Decision
The euro area's PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) data for September will be released later today, providing key insights into the region's economic growth and inflation pressures.
Markets are expecting manufacturing PMI readings of 50.9 in France, 54.0 in Germany, and 52.6 in the Eurozone, while services PMI is expected to remain steady at 48.3 in France, 50.0 in Germany, and 51.5 in the Eurozone.
The Composite PMI, which combines both manufacturing and services data, is forecasted to hold steady at 48.7 in France, 51.8 in Germany, and 51.7 in the Eurozone.
The bigger question for markets, however, revolves around what the report might say about the ECB's (European Central Bank) next move, particularly regarding interest rates.
Currently, markets are pricing a 45% chance of another 25 bps rate hike in October, with further hikes fully priced only by December at the earliest.
