Euro Banknotes Get a Makeover: Public Consultation Launched
The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched a public consultation on the design of new euro banknotes, which will be introduced in the coming years. The selected proposals for the redesign were chosen from over 1,200 submissions by graphic designers across Europe.
The current series of euro banknotes, introduced in 2002, will continue to circulate and retain their value alongside the new ones. This is the first complete redesign of euro banknotes since their introduction.
The proposals include famous historical and cultural figures such as Marie Skłodowska Curie, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Leonardo da Vinci, as well as nature-inspired designs featuring birds like the ibis and white stork.
